Do the other functionalities work with or without usb power?
-
Hi SgtPepper, Did you buy the MetaWear with battery from us or did you buy your own battery and soldered it on? If it's from us, did it ever work or is this a recently developed problem? Thanks, Yu
-
It is on its way. We are testing The Ali and sample apps. Look for a release in early January!
-
We are going to add some error checking in the connection code to fix/mitigate this issue. Look for an Android API/sample app update. Thanks.

We are currently working on syncing the features between iOS and android. We actually did add a parameter for that in the sample app, but the newest revision is not yet published, so look out for a new update. However, in general, the sample app i…

I would suggest that you try with only 1 board in the vicinity. If still fails, then maybe you can upload a video of the failure. I will try again with the Galaxy s4 on 4.4.3 just in case. Edit: I was able to reproduce the problem at least a few …

Can you try using a different Android device by any chance? I've tried to reproduce the bug with 3 different devices and haven't had any luck.
-
You should be able to reset the device by holding down the switch and plugging it into the usb, even if the battery is soldered on. If that doesn't work, there are a few pins you can touch with a paper clip to reset the device as well.

quzar, Does the MetaWear work at all with battery, but no usb? If not, then it is likely you have a defective battery. Did you buy the battery from us or was it an after-market part?
-
Hi Biospank, I just tested this using a board without battery and it did not exhibit any problems with the connect/disconnect on Android 4.4.3. Did you make any modifications to the sample app? Thanks, Yu

We will try to work on something for Android. i can't promise a timeline because we have plans for several other sample apps for Android. Let us know if you need help with something in particular in Android though.
-
We will definitely look into making the suggested improvement. In the mean time, please feel free to let us know of specific issues if you think of any. Thanks!

Hi, we have received your order. We are currently processing it. However, we will probably not be able to ship it out until the beginning of next week due to the Thanksgiving holidays. Thanks for your patience!

Matt, I worked with our firmware/hardware team and found that the pause feature in the Android app does not put the LED into a sleep state and should not be used as a replacement for a "stop" LED function. We will work to address this issue ASAP. …

No I have not received it.

Hi arywista, I have been monitoring the hello@mbientlab.com email along with Laura. I'm not sure what you emailed us in regards to? Maybe we accidentally missed it or it got filtered into the spam box? We sometimes get flooded with emails in a day…

Hey, "A 100mA 3.7v rechargeable batter should be the same regardless of manufacturer. This battery is generally used on something like a quadcopter." Yes I agree that your battery should work. Is there any possibility that your battery is j…

Thanks for sharing Claude. For any users that read this, please update to the latest app version before attempting the update to minimize potential known failures. Thanks!

Matt, Are you using an aftermarket battery? I'll let our Android developer comment on your specific use case, but in general, we experience ~5 days of battery life with occasional usage of the accelerometer + vibrator + LED. The battery usually ch…

Hi Matthew, The LED is a known issue with some boards. We used 2 different LED modules in the MetaWears we shipped due to parts availability. Unfortunately, when the 0.8.0 firmware contained some optimizations that contained a bug where one type o…

Claude, We have identified an issue with the LED module and fixed it in an 0.8.3 firmware release. We hope to finish testing and release it by tomorrow. Please look out for an announcement on the forums. Thanks!

Hi Claude, Do you know if the Metawear(s) are otherwise working? We are aware of some issues with the .8.0 firmware update and are actively working to make it more stable. If you could send me some details of the steps you took to get to this …

Hi blairhadfield, iOS actually has a library function in CoreLocation that does perform measurements of how far a BLE device is based on the signal strength (RSSI). It can provide a number and is not limited to only providing "near" or "far". …

"I have to press the Mechanical Switch and than plug in the USB power cable(battery connected or disconnected ?) .. Then release the switch and it should trigger a reset???" Yes that is correct. Battery can be connected or disconnected. If the batt…

I've uploaded the project for Laura. It should now be available here:https://github.com/mbientlab-projects/HeartRate The code itself is based on the iOS API Sample App and is pretty hacky, so please keep that in mind while using it.
-
We will put most of our "hacks" (non-production ready projects) in the mbientlab project github: https://github.com/mbientlab-projects I'll tell Laura to upload the heartbeat sample this evening. Thanks, Yu

We will probably create an example involving logging module and the accelerometer in the next week or so. Thanks, Yu Edit: In the mean time, you can check out our new sample app that demonstrates how to use the logging module with the onboard…

fredrik, What platform are you using to connect to the MetaWear? If it's Android, the sample app and API are both open source, so you should be able to download it and look at how the connection is made. Let me know if you need additional help…

samsgates, I will be posting a sample app both on the Apple App Store as well as our Github page today that will demonstrate and show off our logging functionality with the onboard temperature sensor. I will also post a tutorial on this sample app…
