Can not connect and can not update

I bought a MetaWear (R) a while back on Kickstarter.
The MetaWear Android app sees the device but can't connect (says connecting... forever).
nRF Toolbox can connect, but DFU says "DFU mode not enabled".
Device Information retreived through nRF Connect: Serial Number: D2A000, Hardware Revision String: 0.2, Firmware Revision String: 0.4.1.

Section 6 "Firmware (Embedded) Development" in the Getting Started Guide https://mbientlab.com/docs/MetaWearGettingStarted.pdf says I can upload the firmware through the debug port and to find additional documentation at https://mbientlab.com/docs/ . I could not find additional documentation on how to upload firmware thorugh the debug port.
Besides that, I can't find the download link to the latest firmware. It's not on the website, and I couldn't find it in the forum, I only found http://releases.mbientlab.com/metawear/vanilla/latest but it seems directory listing is disabled for the server so it is impossible to access. Why disable it?

So, where can I find the latest firmware and how can I flash it?
Thanks

  • For a MetaWear R board with that old of a firmware, try using an older app to do a DFU.  You can download the v2.5.12 APK from our GitHub release page.  The DFU option is a menu item located in the drop down menu on the action bar.  Once the DFU activity is loaded:
    1. Press "select device" in the action bar
    2. Find your metawear
    3. Select "Use Latest"
    4. Select "Upload"
  • Thanks, that worked.
I updated to the latest firmware using the above APK, and now I can use the board with the latest app.
