Tap on the metawear detection using API

Hi,
I need to read the taps on the case/board of the metawear. 
If user want to inform something to the mobile app by tapping on the case using his finger, then he will just tap and app responds to it.
Can this be achieved using your metawear iOS and Android API?
If so, can you please let me know the API call(s) which need to be used?
