Lowest Sampling Rate in Android

The current minimum sampling rates are Acc - 12.5Hz, Gyro - 25Hz and Mag - 10Hz within the Android app. In order to conserve battery life, can the frequency of these sensors be lowered to something like 1Hz for the accelerometer? If so, how can this be done given that he API for MetaHub is not available (as far as I'm aware).

Use the Android SDK to customize the sensors however you want. The BMI160 accelerometer can sample data as low as 0.78125 Hz
