MetamotionR not holding connection

Hello everyone,

I'm having an issue with one of the MetamotionR development boards I've purchased. If this is not the correct place to post this please advise otherwise.

I've purchased 20 of these boards between last year and the present and there is an issue with one of them I can't seem to figure out. I am using the sample iOS app available here: https://github.com/mbientlab/MetaWear-SampleApp-iOS without any changes made, as a reference.

One of the sensors cannot maintain a connection to this sample app. It is selected from the list of available devices and correctly connects however, I cannot even scroll down to see the other screen details before a connection is lost. It seems as though sometimes it connects and reverts TX Power to 0. Sometimes it shows -8 for this value but the connection does not hold still. Screenshots posted below.

  • Hrm, sounds like the BT antennae is weak / not functioning properly. Do you see the same behavior when using the nRF Connect app?

    I've tried with nRF Connect and it seems like signal strength looks ok. Unfortunately I'm getting similar results with it. The device is found during the scan and I can connect to it, but the connection is lost and the device is disconnected after several seconds. The delay before disconnection is not consistent with some disconnects almost instant and some after10-15 seconds.



  • Hrm, see if the same connection issue arises on another platform (Windows or Android). I would imagine it does which would be more evidence for a bad BT radio.
