Orientation Taring in MetaBase and MetaWear iOS Apps

I know there are APIs for taring the sensor fusion orientation, however if I use the MetaBase or MetaWear apps in the App Store how is orientation handled? I have read in other discussions that the datasheet orientations for the sensors are different than for fusion orientation, but have not seen anything saying what the orientation used for fusion actually is.

Basically I want to log fusion data (gravity and quaternion) using iOS MetaBase, but can't find any documentation on how absolute or relative (tared) orientation is handled. I could test this, but am hoping you have the information available.

This is for a MMS device if the answer is device-specific.
